For nearly twenty years, I lived in a painful, self-imposed silence. After facing profound unthinkable childhood trauma, I believed the cruel whisper that I was too dirty and too broken to be worthy of God’s love. I turned my back on the Savior I had accepted as a young girl, hiding behind the walls of my past.

But God never left me.

Through years of running, a painful divorce, and the beautiful gift of motherhood, God was quietly waiting. It wasn’t until the darkest night of my life—when I lost my son, Chris, in a sudden, devastating wreck—that I fell to the floor, completely broken, and cried out: “God, help me.”

In that exact moment, He didn’t meet me with judgment. He met me with an overwhelming embrace, whispering to my spirit: “Be still my lost and broken child. Chris is with me, and I so love you.”
